Thanks for the reading of the Open Letter to President Biden et al -- it's powerful on its own, and I found it even more so when listening to the audio version. The figures are staggering. 5.9-year shorter life expectancy, much higher rates of suicide and opioid deaths...I really hope this common sense, non-partisan message gets through.
How can politicians ignore the indisputable facts presented to them about men and boys? Do they have fathers, brothers and sons? How can they ignore half of their constituency? Who are these disgusting bigots? Name them and shame them.
I don't know how often they actually are presented with the data, and that's part of the problem. I think many people (in and out of politics) are unfamiliar with the data.
It's literally so shocking it's hard to believe how bigoted our governments are. They hate men and boys. Such discrimination toward any other demographic would see mobs screaming and rioting in the streets. Yet it is WOMEN, the people who have more cash and support thrown at them than any other who still march and complain about the patriarchy on a regular basis.
Last year I had a meeting with my local Federal member and I went armed with statistics on male suicide, homelessness, workplace deaths, life expectancy and domestic violence. He did not refute any of my facts but told me empathically that no political party has any interest in men and boys as there are no votes to be found there. He even said if I was in the Liberal party and spoke the way I was, I would be sacked within a month or two by the party.
It is disgusting. Nobody in the media gives a stuff. It is soul destroying.
That's a real shame. Keep fighting. I don't agree with the your local federal member. I think it's more an issue that many politicians don't know how to present, frame, or talk about boys'/men's issues.
Our politicians could very easily talk about the countless issues negatively impacting men and boys-they choose not to because the moment they did they would be instantly accused of misogyny or ignoring women's needs.
That of course is absurd but it's a ploy feminist lobby groups have used for years whenever somebody dares to even whisper support for more money directed to men's needs.
I have never once heard a politician in any country say they are prioritizing men's needs in a particular area be it health, suicide, homelessness, education, workplace safety or ending the lie that domestic violence is a gendered issue. Not once. It is always women they speak about and women they hurl billions at regardless of how many billions they have already given them.
Politicians value their jobs far more than their moral courage. They continually throw men and boys under the bus. The last budget under the Liberal government when Frydenberg was treasurer mentioned women 19 times and men once and that was in a negative connotation suggesting it was somehow wrong for men to have a larger superannuation fund than women.
The government site on suicide in Australia literally fails to mention men once! Men suicide at nearly four times the rate of women yet get not one mention while the government site on domestic violence uses the word women repeatedly and does not mention men who make up at least one third of victims at all.
The same applies to the government website on workplace deaths. All of the information is gender neutral even though men make up 95% of all deaths. It is indefensible and clearly deliberate.
They also talk about women and children as a collective as though only men harm or kill children. It is another sleight of hand they use continually to give the impression that women and children are always victims of male violence and only male violence. Women kill their children as often and sometimes more (on an annual basis) than men do but the general public would not be aware given the way domestic violence is presented in this country. In 2022 here in Australia 15 kids were killed by their mum and 3 by a dad yet all advertisements on our screens showed only men as perpetrators.
Why does an issue like suicide which overwhelmingly affects males get presented in gender neutral terminology while another issue affecting women more but by a smaller margin is presented as a gendered issue with men always the perpetrator and women and kids their victims.? Another oversight?
This isn't an innocent oversight or a failure to understand how best to speak about men and boys. Do you really believe lifelong politicians would not know how to talk about the issues harming men and boys?
The health funding gap you presented is an absolute disgrace. And as you show it has gone on for decades. If it was any demographic other than men being so grossly discriminated against there would be an uproar.
I agree that politicians (across the political spectrum) lack courage. Most cower when the first (misguided) criticisms are thrown their way, instead of standing up straight with the facts on their side.
But everyone know Warren Farrell is an extreme men's rights misogynist. Men like him and Murray Strauss, Richaed Gelles, Marc Lepine, Donald Dutton, Elliot Rodgers, George Sodini, Douglas Perry, John Floyd Thomas and thousands of other men like them have long been debunked, discredited and exposed as men driven by their hatred of women to invert, distort and invent a mythology to align with their obsession.

Sorry James,
Our politicians could very easily talk about the countless issues negatively impacting men and boys-they choose not to because the moment they did they would be instantly accused of misogyny or ignoring women's needs.
That of course is absurd but it's a ploy feminist lobby groups have used for years whenever somebody dares to even whisper support for more money directed to men's needs.

You are being far too kind, James.
I agree that politicians (across the political spectrum) lack courage. Most cower when the first (misguided) criticisms are thrown their way, instead of standing up straight with the facts on their side.
What a disgrace, imagine substitute women for white men and men to black men. The discrimination should not have to be pointed out

Your comment seems to suggest you are an unhinged feminist with a raging hatred of facts. I pity you.
