A couple things to keep in mind regarding the men's health funding. First, the winner of yesterday's federal election was the Labor Party. The Labor Party has been no friend to men's health, as I detailed in my previous post about the federal budget (link below). Second, we need to see how the funds are going to used. Though Movember does much laudable work, it does have some internal feminist influence. Third, the amount of funding that was agreed upon still pales in comparison to that which the Labor Party has planned for women's health (see link).
And they made the commitment a week prior to election day. Very much an after thought. I have heard the main opposition party then matched the proposal.
